I can only send new message using IE6 and XP.  Replies and forwards get an error message that say that it doesn't recognize my ID
My PC recently crashed and I had to replace the HD. I used my manufacturer's recover DVDs to bring my system back up to its original condition and then download Service packs 2 & 3 plus hundreds of other updates. Now, when I use IE6, I can only send new messages and those messages can have large attachments. I can receive mail but I can't reply to those messages or forward those messages. I've checked my settings numerous times and tried many variations of options and ports. Her is the message I get when I try to reply:The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'Email removed for privacy'. Subject 'Re: FLL', Account: 'AT&T Yahoo', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 From address not verified - see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/manage/sendfrom-07.html', Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC78I've also tried deleting the outbox and sent file although being new, the sent file only had about 100 messages. All my other files were lost in the crash.Any suggestions?

Response: '553 From address not verified - see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/manage/sendfrom-07.html',There is your answer. If you don't udnerstand it or it doesn't fit, complain to Yahoo, please. Likely, you do not use SMTP AUTH or the From address is not registered with it.BTW, this has nothing to do with IE. IE does not send or receive mail.IEFAQ: http://iefaq.info Newsgroup: microsoft.public.de.internetexplorer

I'm sorry that I mistyped IE6 instead of OE6. I looked at that answer that worked at the URL you mentioned and in that case, the person had the SMTP wrong. I have ATT in mine, have tried a variety of ports. I've tried repairing OE but that hasn't worked either. I'll post at the Yahoo site instead.
